While Spencer would find a home rather quickly, I think the Denver Broncos decide some of this young talent is too special to pass up. Like many Bronco fans, I like Spencer as a player and as a personality.

Unfortunately, not every talented player fits the mold for every team at that particular time. One area that really hurts Spencer, is his lack of usage in the offense. Despite his speed and elusiveness, Spencer saw 65 total snaps on offense in 2020.

On a team that desperately needed veteran presence, Spencer was not turned to often throughout the season. During the 2020 NFL Season, he hauled in just three receptions for 26 yards. Albeit, he is a great returner, he hasn’t proven to be versatile enough to crack this roster.

Sophomore receivers like Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, and Tyrie Cleveland will have another year to grow under current offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Rookies Seth Williams and Warren Jackson could see playing time in case of injury, but I wouldn’t expect massive impacts from either in year one.

Courtland Sutton, “CS14” as I like to call him, will be returning to the Denver Broncos in 2021. During the Week 2 battle against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sutton tore his ACL. Sutton has spent his last eight months rehabbing and is on track to be available in Week 1.

Tim Patrick will continue to do Tim Patrick things.

Whenever Patrick is called upon, he delivers. After Sutton’s injury in Week 2, he was pressed into a major role and made his name a bit more known. He certainly didn’t blow the doors off of the barn, but he established himself as a potential number two receiver on another roster.

Patrick brought in 51 receptions for 742 yards and 6 touchdowns, despite playing on the youngest offense in the NFL. While this will likely be his last season as a Denver Bronco, Tim Patrick is a guy who can be relied on if needed.
