As Phase II of the offseason begins, what would reasonable expectations for this Denver Broncos team be? In what I would like to describe as a mini-series, there will be multiple articles diving into what the Denver Broncos‘ fan base should expect from each position group. These articles will look into not only who I expect to make the 53-man roster, but their potential products as well.

An interesting group that I would like to begin with is the wide receiver room. As it stands right now, the deep group includes:

  • Courtland Sutton
  • Tim Patrick
  • KJ Hamler
  • Jerry Jeudy
  • Diontae Spencer
  • Seth Williams
  • Tyrie Cleveland
  • Warren Jackson
  • Trinity Benson
  • Branden Mack
  • DeVontres Dukes
  • *Kendall Hinton*

In a crowded and talented room, not every player out of this group will not make the official 53-man roster. On average, an NFL team carries six players over, last year the Denver Broncos placed seven on their official 53.

Was this due to the heavy investment last year, or did a player like Diontae Spencer cause this to happen? Kendall Hinton is in between asterisks as he is currently working out with the defensive backs in OTA’s. Until Hinton has officially made that transition, I will keep him listed as a wide receiver.

Hinton feels a lot like Brendan Langley; a very talented athlete, but not talented enough at one specific position. Ignoring his courageous spot start last year at quarterback, he is looking to be a long shot at making the cut.

Will the Denver Broncos repeat the mirage of 2020, and carry seven wide receivers onto their 53-man roster in 2021?

My best guess of who makes the final 53 would be:

  • Courtland Sutton
  • Jerry Jeudy
  • KJ Hamler
  • Tim Patrick
  • Tyrie Cleveland
  • Seth Williams
  • Warren Jackson

At this point, many of you are wondering, where is Diontae “Godspeed” Spencer on this list?
