On Thursday, a report from Mike Garafolo stated that the Denver Broncos waived wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton. A little while later that same day, it was said by Garafolo that Hamilton was not actually waived.

Now we know why.

Hamilton actually ended up injuring his knee while working out away from the team facility. Hamilton is the second player to suffer a major injury while following the same plan.

With that being the case, Hamilton will miss out on millions of dollars.

Garafolo said on Friday that the Broncos were continuing to shop Hamilton and a trade was actually close to being executed, but with the injury, Hamilton will suffer the same outcome as right tackle Ja’Wuan James: his salary will not be paid.

This continues to be a problem and unless something changes, we should, unfortunately, expect more of these things to happen over time. The players should be training at their respective team facilities all the time to avoid losing out on money following a season-ending injury.

According to Benjamin Allbright of Broncos Country Tonight, the San Francisco 49ers are a team that was interested in Hamilton. They and other teams apparently made offers for the fourth-year wide receiver.

With Hamilton officially not being able to play for the 2021 season, the Broncos will still be getting Courtland Sutton back. The return of Tim Patrick, Jerry Jeudy, and K.J. Hamler are going to continue to get work in. Unfortunately, Hamilton was just the odd man out in the loaded wide receiver room.

If Hamilton’s time with the Broncos is actually at an end, the wide receiver finished his tenure in Denver with 81 receptions for 833 yards and five touchdowns.

We wish Hamilton the very best in his recovery and hope that he comes back better than ever, whether that is as a member of the Denver Broncos, or another team.
