Denver Broncos get sleeper WR Seth Williams under contract
The Denver Broncos have a lot of talent at the wide receiver position heading into the 2021 offseason, and that was true even before they used a sixth-round draft pick on Auburn’s Seth Williams. Williams was chosen by the Broncos with the 219th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Now, the day before rookie minicamp, Williams has signed his four-year contract with the team.
Williams is the third day three draft selection for the Denver Broncos to sign his rookie contract at this point, and the team has been busy putting deals together in the last couple of days.
The first draft pick to sign was fifth-round safety Caden Sterns followed closely by Kary Vincent Jr.
The Broncos also brought in offensive tackles Ryan Pope and Bobby Massie within the last couple of days. Plenty of contracts are being handed out.
In this case, Seth Williams could be one player who steals the show at the initial rookie minicamp. Obviously, the Denver Broncos drafted some very talented defensive backs, so he will have the chance to show some of what he can do as they teach these young players the ropes.
Williams will get the opportunity to be coached by Broncos wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni, who has really done a tremendous job with the team in recent years, doing his part to bring out the best in guys like Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick.
Williams will hope to be the next in line and perhaps come in and take someone’s job. The Broncos have four key receivers on the roster — Sutton, Patrick, DaeSean Hamilton, and Diontae Spencer — who are free agents in 2022.
Courtland Sutton is going nowhere, and Tim Patrick is not likely leaving either, but there could be a roster spot up for grabs for the 6-foot-3 Williams, who runs under 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and showed tremendous potential at Auburn with highlight-reel catches and big-time red zone abilities.
