First-year General Manager George Paton and the Denver Broncos will be traveling to worrisome MetLife Stadium to face the New York Giants. This game will be played on September 12th, the 20th anniversary weekend of the horrific tragedy in 9-11.

This will provide the National Football League an opportunity to honor the fallen rescue teams amongst others with a strong tribute. Maybe NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell should consider having some of the revenue donated to charities, or the families of some of the fallen heroes.

I’d personally like to thank anyone who protects not only myself but my family day in and day out. If this disaster took someone you knew or loved and you are reading this, I would like to send my condolences as well.

What should we expect from the season opener against the Big Blue?

One word: Victory.

Kicking off the 2021 season, some may look at this and think about Pat Shurmur battling his former team. As I look into this particular game, I drool over watching Drew Lock face off against a quarterback in a similar position as Lock, Daniel Jones.

Both quarterbacks lead offenses that struggled in the past. Potential starting quarterback Drew Lock gained an extra weapon in Javonte Williams and got his number one receiver back in Courtland Sutton.

Daniel Jones, on the other hand, got quite the reinforcements in the 2021 NFL Offseason. During free-agency and the NFL Draft, they supported Jones by adding former Denver Bronco Devontae Booker, speedsters Kadarius Toney and John Ross, veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph, and a legit option on the outside in Kenny Golladay.

In 2020, the New York Giants finished the season with a 6-10 record, which was one game better than the Denver Broncos at 5-11. Neither team spilled over with offensive production last year, as the Denver Broncos averaged just under 21 points a game while the Giants averaged just below 18 points a game.

With the additions and returns for both teams, I expect both offenses to see a rise in production.

Much like the Denver Broncos, their defense was pretty solid. This may come as a surprise to most, it may be contributed to a weak NFC East but the New York Giants surrendered just above 22 points a game last year.

While the Broncos defense was ravaged by injuries and had to play some potent offenses in 2021, they were allowing just under 28 points a game.

Certainly, I expect the Denver Broncos to avoid a debacle in the season opener. On October 15th, 2017, the New York Giants came into the Mile High City for their most recent outing. Many fans got pumped up to just get whooped by the not only hapless but winless New York Giants on prime-time television.

In the history of the Denver Broncos, they are 39-21-1 all-time on opening day. The previous two years have resulted in losses on Monday Night Football, including the Lav Vegas Raiders in 2019 and the Tennesse Titans in 2020.

This trend of losing on opening day in the past couple of years ends here, the Denver Broncos will start the season 1-0. Defeating the New York Giants 31-20 and looking forward to traveling to Jacksonville to face former Denver Bronco, Tim Tebow.
