Denver Broncos 2021 schedule: Tim Tebow Time is coming back
The Denver Broncos drafted Florida quarterback Tim Tebow in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. After a two-year stint with the team, he spent time with the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles before exiting the league.
Well, guess what, Tebowmania? He’s baaaaaaaaaack, and the Broncos might get to face him if he makes the roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
That’s right: the Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign Tebow to play tight end.
Now, Tebow is still going to have to prove every single day that he can keep up and play effectively at the new position. There’s still the chance that he fails to make the roster, given that he’s never played tight end before. It would still just be a great story to see him come back to the NFL after spending time as a baseball player.
Should this game be in primetime?
Can you imagine the hype that Jaguars will bring, not only with Tebow, but with Trevor Lawrence, too? You add two high-profile players/figures into a matchup that would probably get a lot less people watching.
Let me remind you: that touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas in overtime against the Steelers in the playoffs? Yeah, that was Tebow throwing that ball.
He also had some other positive moments as a Denver Bronco. Here are ten of them.
As a quarterback, Tebow completed just 47.9 percent of his passes (173-of-361) for 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He was more of a running-style quarterback, nearly reaching 1,000 yards on 197 attempts and adding 12 touchdowns on the ground.
This is the type of reunion we’ve all been waiting for. Okay, maybe not all of us. But it is certainly a matchup that I personally am looking forward to.
Tebowmania was huge back in the day. For the people who were not around watching the NFL back around 10 years ago, it was all the news. The 2007 Heisman trophy winner, Tebow’s religious beliefs were a big part of his popularity in the NFL. Unfortunately, his playing style and abilities just weren’t meant for the big league.
Tebow had opportunities to play tight end after his time as a quarterback came to an end, but he opted to play baseball instead. Tebow retired from baseball in February, and apparently has been training to become a tight end.
Whether or not he succeeds at this new position will be a fun thing to watch. Broncos vs Jaguars may not matter to some people, as they are two mediocre/terrible teams.
That makes me lean toward the side that they are not going to put the game into primetime. However, a player who generated so much attention (and continues to upon the position switch) facing off against the team that drafted him would be a lot of fun.
