Las Vegas Raiders: Trevon Moehrig, Malcolm Koonce

The Raiders whiffed on their first-round pick when they selected offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood, but they hit a home run in round two by grabbing Trevon Moehrig out of TCU.

Moehrig was arguably the best safety in this class and the fact that the Raiders got him at No. 43 overall was a steal. Pairing him with Johnathan Abram makes for one of the more intriguing safety combinations in the league.

Moehrig is a good run defender who is a physical tackler. But he also has good ball skills. While he doesn’t have the quickness to keep up with every wide receiver in the league, he still has more than enough ability to make big plays on the defensive side of the ball.

The team’s third-round selection of Malcolm Koonce was also a solid choice. Koonce is the best pass-rushing prospect to come out of Buffalo since Khalil Mack, which makes it quite ironic that he went to the Raiders.

This guy will give the Raiders another threat off the edge and he is a guy who could be a double-digit sack guy at some point in his career.

The rest of the Raiders’ draft class left much to be desired, but these picks were both great.
