Many fans are going to want Justin Fields to be put in this spot, but the fact that the team passed on Micah Parsons is a drum I will continue to beat.

Parsons was probably the best defensive prospect in this class and I can’t see a more Vic Fangio style pick than this one. What’s funny is that he went to the Dallas Cowboys, who likely wanted Patrick Surtain, the guy the Broncos did take.

Parsons can really do it all. He is a sideline-to-sideline linebacker with good skills in coverage. Imagining him on the same field with  Bradley Chubb and Von Miller is a lot of fun, but it;’s always going to be a fantasy.

What turned the Broncos off to Parsons may never be known, but it’s likely that Surtain was just the top guy on their board and that is the guy they wanted.

Passing on Fields is understandably frustrating for many fans as well, especially when so many analysts still feel he was the No. 2 quarterback in this draft.

Time will tell if choosing Surtain over these two guys was the right move.

Again, this is not to say that the pick the Broncos did make was a bad one. However, Surtain better end up being a world-beater.
