3. Kellen Mond, Texas A&M
If the Denver Broncos are going to take a shot on an intriguing athlete at quarterback, Kellen Mond would be worth the “dart throw” as George Paton might say.
Mond’s build reminds me a bit of Lamar Jackson in that he’s not exactly tall, but slender and somewhat lanky.
He is also probably a couple of tenths slower in the 40-yard dash than Jackson, but Mond can move out there, there’s no question.
Mond played 46 games for Texas A&M and was productive for them over that time, throwing for 71 touchdowns and running for another 22. He came a game or two shy of throwing for 10,000 yards for the Aggies and certainly has been out on the field for a ton of ball.
In addition to his speed and athleticism, perhaps the most attractive part of Mond’s game is his live arm talent. He has all of the physical tools to be an early pick but there are obviously some concerns about his decision-making given he threw 27 interceptions and his ball placement was not always where it needed to be.

Denver Broncos: Drew Lock is safe after day one of the draft
After day one of the 2021 NFL Draft, Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock is safe. The Broncos' decision to pass on Justin Fields is telling.
His completion percentage went up every year at Texas A&M, and his highlights are absolutely beautiful. The problem is, his lows are too frequent for comfort.
