Pick by Travis Wakeman

It would make the draft quite interesting if the Jets went against popular thought here and took someone not named Zach Wilson, but that won’t happen.

Wilson has been pegged to be this pick for months now and after his Pro Day showing it was all but a given that it was going to happen. The Jets would later trade Sam Darnold, so a quarterback being picked in this spot is a guarantee.

The Jets certainly need a quarterback and if Wilson can become the franchise guy many people feel he can then New York could have a solid quarterback for the first time in what seems like forever.

The weaknesses that Wilson has put on film are not many and his strengths are evident. He has a great arm, can make every single throw and he is accurate as well. He shows a strong competitive spirit as well as good leadership qualities.

There has been some media concern over how well he will make the transition from BYU to big New York City but that is always a concern with a quarterback going to play there. It’s a demanding market, but if he plays anywhere close to the way he did this past season, Jets fans will be happy with this pick.
