Denver Broncos: Full first-round mock draft with a QB at 9?
Pick by Lou Scataglia
Son of former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel, Samuel Jr. has the NFL blood. Samuel is a bit undersized at 5-foot-10 but is a shifty corner who ran in the 4.4s at his pro day.
For the Jets, they have a boatload of needs, and Robert Saleh is their head coach, so he is surely going to be pounding the table for the team to address the defense early in the draft.
Samuel has expressed confidence in playing well on the outside and is bound to draw attention for his name alone.
The New York Jets have a variety of different directions they could go with this selection given the number of needs they have as a roster. Something teams like to do after taking a quarterback is surround him with some kind of complementary talent.
Here, the Jets can help Zach Wilson out by getting him a guy who can help create turnovers defensively. It won’t help Wilson to constantly be playing from behind. Samuel’s aggressiveness and football bloodlines would be tremendous for Saleh’s scheme.
