22. player. 35. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Northwestern. Greg Newsome

Pick by Chandler Hyler

Newsome is a rising corner on many’s draft boards. He excels well in mirroring wide receivers and he has the ability to play zone. He is instinctive and has his hands on just about every pass thrown his way. In the previous two years, he posted 10+ pass-break-ups in both years.

While Newsome isn’t the biggest corner, he played primarily on the outside at Northwestern. Being aggressive and putting his nose in on the play is not something he would shy away from neither.

His three years starting for the Wildcats proved that he can be a versatile and physical corner at the next level.

Newsome is expected to come in and replace Malcolm Butler, who was released from the leaky Titans’ secondary. In 2020 they allowed over a 50% conversion rate on third-downs, as well as 277 passing yards a game.

The Tennesse Titans are hopeful Newsome can come in with the help of Kristian Fulton and get this secondary turned around in 2021.
