Miami. JaelanPhillips. 46. Scouting Report. EDGE. player. Pick Analysis. 21

Pick by Jordan Lopez

One of the biggest needs for the Indianapolis Colts is someone that can rush the passer. Particularly an EDGE.

Jaelan Phillips’ stock has improved significantly throughout the draft process and some have considered him an early first-round pick now. Phillips was dominant for the University of Miami last year and is an incredible athlete on top of that.

He does have some medical concerns, but he did also finish the college year healthy and has never looked better. His ability to rush the passer is remarkable. He can get to the quarterback using his speed or just overpowering his opponent.

Phillips has fantastic hands at the line of scrimmage as well and can knock down balls at a consistent rate. This will be a great addition for the Colts as their defense just keeps on getting better. Phillips should be a day one starter for Indy, and he can become one of the best players to come out of this stacked 2021 class.
