You can still find some Broncos fans that will say Marcus Nash was the worst first-round pick in team history, and he’s certainly in the conversation. At least this pick came a little bit later, as the Broncos took him No. 30 overall in 1998.

Nash was a college teammate of Peyton Manning’s at Tennessee and both players went in the first round of the 1998 draft. He posted good numbers in college and had a massive 1997 season that included 76 receptions for 1,170 yards and 13 touchdowns.

But as Manning would prove during his pro career, he could throw the ball to just about anybody and make them look good and that was certainly the case with Nash, who was a terrible first-round pick.

Nash lasted just over one season with the team, catching just four passes. Those would end up being his career totals as two other teams, the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens, gave him a chance, but both pulled the plug on him quickly.

Outside of Randy Moss, the 1998 draft was not a big one for wide receivers. But some guy named Hines Ward was taken 62 picks after the Broncos took Nash.
