Third round: Justin Simmons, 2016

The Broncos have had some horrendous third-round picks in the last decade, such as Carlos Henderson and Brendan Langley, but when looking at all of the third-round picks that have been made in that time, one name easily stands out.

Justin Simmons is the best third-round pick over the course of that time and one of the best third-rounders the team has ever had. In five seasons, he has become one of the best safeties in the league.

After signing a huge four-year extension about a month ago, Simmons finally received the big payday he was looking for and the team showed that it was willing to invest in him due to t he efforts he has placed on the field.

Simmons is one of, if not the best player on the team at this point and if he can put together another five great seasons like the ones he has started his career with, he can have his name mentioned with the likes of Steve Atwater and Dennis Smith as being one of the best safeties in team history.

In five seasons, Simmons has nearly 400 tackles and 16 interceptions for the Broncos. When the defense needs a big play, he is often there to make it.
