Coverage linebacker

This has been a Broncos kryptonite for a number of years.

Finding a linebacker that covers running backs and tight ends well has been very challenging for the Broncos.

Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell are solid at the inside linebacker positions but the team could use some help at the position in terms of coverage.

After the beginning of free agency, the Broncos did not address this hole. I definitely expect them to take a look at some prospects in the upcoming draft.

There are a number of linebackers that could help from this year’s NFL draft, including first-round prospects Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Zaven Collins.

Another player that might be the answer to the team’s coverage linebacker absence is 2020 pick Justin Strnad.  Unfortunately, we did not get to see Strnad play for the team as a rookie because he missed the year due to an injury.

Before the 2021 NFL season begins, this hole on the roster needs to be addressed, and based off of the positive things that new general manager George Paton has done so far, there’s no reason to think that this will not be taken care of.
