RB Phillip Lindsay

The Denver Broncos said goodbye to Phillip Lindsay, whose RFA tender was rescinded after the team signed Mike Boone, and then about a day later, Lindsay became one of about 93 players to sign with the Houston Texans this offseason.

Lindsay got $1 million guaranteed from the Texans and a little over $3 million in total money, essentially the value of a restricted free agent tender.

This is a tough goodbye, there is no question about it. And many fans will not care as much about any other move made this offseason by George Paton because he did not do more to keep Lindsay around.

But it’s very interesting that after watching film on his own and with coaches and scouts in the team that George Paton came to the conclusion to let Lindsay go.

He struggled with injuries in 2020, but there’s no doubt about his ability to be a catalyst for the offense when healthy.

Other current in-house free agents

  • OT Elijah Wilkinson
  • OT Demar Dotson
  • EDGE Jeremiah Attaochu
  • CB AJ Bouye
  • DL Jurrell Casey
  • DL DeMarcus Walker
  • DB Will Parks
  • CB De’Vante Bausby
  • DL Sylvester Williams
  • EDGE Anthony Chickillo
  • TE Troy Fumagalli
  • TE Jake Butt
  • LB Joe Jones
  • LB Austin Calitro

Although a couple of players on this list have taken visits, none have signed in free agency at the time of this article’s posting. That doesn’t bode well for the Broncos getting compensatory selections in the 2022 offseason, but that is not a problem at this point.

The Broncos could still try to bring a number of these players back if the price is right.
