Pick Analysis. QB. MitchellTrubisky. 10. player. Scouting Report. Bears. 57

The Denver Broncos don’t always go with my own personal preference, but sometimes they do.

Mitchell Trubisky is my personal preference for the team to sign at the quarterback position.

First and foremost, I don’t think Trubisky is going to cost you a lot of years or money. While the going rate for proven backup quarterbacks is fairly high, Trubisky is clearly a reclamation project at this point in time and his value has probably never been lower.

With that being said, he would come as a relatively cheap option for the Broncos and he has the kind of talent that would be worth investing in at the position.

How many second overall picks at quarterback within their first five years in the league become available for no compensation in return? These are the kinds of risk/reward propositions that make great general managers in free agency.

Trubisky could be the next “Ryan Tannehill” type of offseason move at quarterback. It takes QBs time to develop in this league sometimes, and if I’m Mitchell Trubisky (or any veteran QB in free agency) I would be getting after my agent to get me a deal with the Broncos.

First of all, the Broncos have an established and good offensive line. They have incredible weapons at the skill positions, and they have a strong defense.

Furthermore, a young QB like Trubisky should look at Denver’s quarterback situation with Drew Lock and see opportunity. The Broncos clearly want to upgrade behind Lock and possibly replace him.

Lock has also been hurt each of his first two years in the league, meaning there’s a decent chance Trubisky would play even if he doesn’t beat Lock outright for the job. Similar to Tannehill not beating Mariota for the Titans’ job in 2019, Trubisky could bide his time until getting a shot, then take the job if that opportunity arises.

Trubisky has history with Broncos head coach Vic Fangio from their time in Chicago. George Paton knows Trubisky having played against him with Minnesota.

To me, this fit is a no-brainer for both parties.
