If the Denver Broncos are going to bring in a running back that Melvin Gordon would actually be excited about, they might make a call to Patriots running back James White, the player who should have been Super Bowl MVP a couple of years ago.

White has been an outstanding receiver out of the backfield and could be the ideal complement to Gordon, just as he was when the two were teammates at Wisconsin.

White has stated that he views Gordon as a “little brother” and where the relationship between Gordon and Lindsay was awkward if not contentious, the relationship between White and Gordon is already established and solid.

White has more career receptions (369) than carries (309) and would allow the Broncos to continue using Melvin Gordon as the primary early-down back without giving away their strategy when either player is on the field.

If White comes at a reasonable rate on a one- or two-year deal, it would be a no-brainer for the Broncos to make the call especially if they do not intend to bring Lindsay back into the fold.
