The wide receiver position is arguably the deepest on the team. So why take a chance on another wideout? This is simply a swing for a player who can add size like Tim Patrick if he were to leave in free agency.

Warren Jackson’s height and size are ideal for the NFL. Jackson may get affected due to the opting out and other wide receivers improving their draft stock. However, there’s a talent with him that is strongly worth taking a flier on day three.

Listed at 6’6″ and 215 pounds, Jackson is nearly identical physically to Tim Patrick. Patrick is not flashy but he is absolutely a menace at the catch point. Jackson is a terrific 50/50 receiver who brings a possible red zone option for teams in a vertical offense.

One area Patrick worked so hard in his route running. If Zach Azzani can see Jackson as a solid route runner mixed with his size and radius he will be a solid contributor to the next level.

Colorado State has quietly put together some solid wide receivers in the NFL. Michael Gallup, Rashard Higgins, and Bisi Johnson are all in NFL. Johnson interesting enough was selected by Minnesota. George Paton’s former team.

It’s hard to know whether Paton had a hand in drafting Johnson, but Jackson would be at least be on his radar if that was the case. Might be something to monitor as the real draft draws near. In this scenario, Jackson becomes a Denver Bronco.
