Sometimes you’ve got to make your own campaign to get national recognition, even as a professional football player. Denver Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick called out the renowned analytics company Pro Football Focus on Twitter for a graphic they shared which was a bit too selective.
Unlike any of the four players listed by Pro Football Focus in that particular tweet, Tim Patrick did not have a single drop in 2020.
It was a breakout season for Patrick, who has been one of the most underrated players on the Broncos’ roster anyway, but he finally got the chance to show what he could do this past season.
Tim Patrick 2020 stats
- 51 receptions
- 742 yards
- 6 TDs
- 0 drops
With Courtland Sutton out and recovering from a knee injury he suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Patrick emerged for the Broncos in 2020 as a legitimate outside weapon and big-time red zone threat.
As a matter of fact, all six of Patrick’s touchdowns in 2020 came on targets inside the 10-yard line.
After Patrick and many Denver Broncos fans took issue with PFF’s selective memory on dropped pass percentage in 2020, they corrected course and gave Patrick a well-deserved shoutout on Twitter the next day.
Patrick was pleased.
After his big season, Patrick is slated for restricted free agency. The Broncos would be absolute fools to not tender Patrick at a second-round level after the way he played in 2020. Even with Courtland Sutton coming back from injury and plenty of other mouths to feed, Patrick is simply too valuable to just let walk this offseason.
Would it be “doing right” by Patrick to let him cash in after a big year in free agency? Absolutely. Will new general manager George Paton be willing to do that? It wouldn’t be the wisest move he could make, but even with a second-round tender, the Broncos could work out a sign-and-trade with some team if they want Patrick badly enough.
Denver Broncos: 4 blockbuster QB trades the team could attempt
New Denver Broncos GM George Paton said the team would be in every deal. What blockbuster QB moves could he attempt in his first year on the job?
Teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, and New England Patriots would probably love to have Patrick on their roster.
