1. Cornerback

This should surprise no one, as cornerback is easily the team’s biggest need heading into the 2021 season. That became an even bigger need when the team parted ways with A.J. Bouye last week after just one season with the team.

There is a lot to be excited about in Bryce Callahan, so long as he can stay healthy, and the rookie Michael Ojemudia showed promising signs this past season as well.  Undrafted free agent Essang Bassey could be a future star too.

Beyond that, there isn’t much.

The team has Parnell Motley, Nate Hairston and Duke Dawson. Motley and Hairston were each added late in the season when the team needed bodies and Dawson has always been a bit of a bust.

De’Vante Bausby will hit free agency and it would be a surprise to see Denver bring him back, but that could happen if the team can’t hit on a free agent or two.

Luckily for Denver, the free-agent market is stocked full of cornerbacks this offseason. Veterans such as Patrick Peterson or Richard Sherman could be had, as could up-and-coming players such as Chidobe Awuzie, Mackensie Alexander and William Jackson III.

The Broncos must get this position shored up this offseason and in addition to signing one of those free agents, they should consider using their first-round pick on a player like Patrick Surtain or Caleb Farley.
