Denver Broncos trade targets: Reclamation projects around the league

Sometimes a team strikes gold by buying low on a guy who just hasn’t played up to his draft status or physical abilities. See the Giants picking up Issac Yiadom from the Broncos last season for a 7th round selection. Yiadom performed much closer to his original 3rd round value for the Giants and maybe a long-term piece for that team. The Broncos could use similar trade targets to increase competition in some key areas with players who may be on their way out elsewhere.

Atlanta Falcons trade target: Isaiah Oliver, CB

Isaiah Oliver is a 6-foot and 210-pound corner who shown improvement, but not at the pace the Atlanta Falcons’ new regime may be okay with. Oliver got beat a lot last year, but the Falcons’ defense struggled to get pressure on the quarterback as well.

Atlanta really focused on getting rookie A.J. Terrell time against number one receivers and opened up snaps for Kendall Sheffield and Blidi Wreh-Wilson to hold down the other slots. The former 2nd round selection became a liability last season after solid flashes his rookie year.

He is a young player who comes with a cap hit of $1,475,296. He could learn from the Broncos defensive coaches and or another addition of a player like Stephon Gilmore or Marshon Lattimore. Oliver could be had for a later-round pick ala Issac Yiadom, who Denver sent away last season.

Green Bay Packers trade target: Rashan Gary, EDGE

Rashan Gary is a 6-foot-5, 277-pound edge player who has the skill set to line up as a 5-T in a 3-4 defense. Rashan Gary had a very disappointing rookie season in 2019 but came on late in 2020. Gary, a top high school recruit boasts some of the best physical tools around but hasn’t necessarily put it together with the Green Bay Packers.

Gary is the 3rd edge player behind two stellar players who are under contract for the next few years in Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith who play about 80 percent of the team’s snaps.

So, having a former 1st round pick on the bench may be a waste of value. If the Broncos find themselves in need of an edge player, this may be a low-risk-high-reward move for the team.
