10 potential Broncos whose stock rose at the 2021 Senior Bowl
Potential Broncos who raised stock at the 2021 Senior Bowl
2. Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina
The Denver Broncos definitely have a need at the running back position, even with the possibility of all of Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay, and Royce Freeman returning for the 2021 season.
If those guys are all back this season, there is still no guarantee any of them will be back for 2022.
The Broncos’ long-term answer at the running back position is probably not on the roster at the present moment.
For that reason, as well as GM George Paton’s history of selecting running backs fairly high in the NFL Draft with Rick Spielman and the Vikings, this position group could be prioritized in the 2021 NFL Draft.
North Carolina’s Michael Carter really showed what kind of a versatile playmaker he is this past season, and the full arsenal of his skill set was on display at the Senior Bowl practices (and during the game).
Carter is a true three-down back with tremendous quickness, burst, and pass-catching ability. He would be a great addition for the Broncos.
3. Cade Johnson, WR, South Dakota State
Nobody has wide receiver at the top of the Denver Broncos’ 2021 list of needs, but with Tim Patrick, Courtland Sutton, and DaeSean Hamilton all in contract years in 2021, this could be one of those low-key areas the team addresses in the mid-late rounds.
If that is the case, a player like South Dakota State’s Cade Johnson would be a lot of fun.
Heck, he could even push someone like DaeSean Hamilton for a roster spot.
Johnson has special teams/return ability, he can play the slot, he has excellent quickness, and despite being just 5-foot-10, he has excellent downfield playmaking ability.
