Denver Broncos 2021 prospect: Javonte Williams, RB North Carolina

Javonte Williams is one of the fast risers in this draft at running back or any position. Williams has upped his production every single year at UNC and has become a more complete back.

This only bolsters his stock in the NFL. Unlike Travis Etienne, Williams is a stocky and built back. Williams has a great, compact size to be successful. His one-cut motion in between the tackles is special. He also shows enough patience like Etienne and Harris to let blocks develop to see openings. The importance of trait was established by guys like Le’Veon Bell and Christian McCaffrey.

Williams is a big proponent of making people miss. He has gotten better at breaking tackles and eluding defenders every single year. Mixed with his production, Williams is a fascinating study. Coming from UNC with an offense full of playmakers it will be interesting to see Williams develop alongside all of them.

He can also help create opportunities for others in pass protection. Williams is rock solid in pass pro and as a pass-catcher. He certainly is not an Etienne based on athleticism but he is more than capable of being a weapon in Denver.

If Denver does add a back like Williams to their backfield, then the team will be improved in short-yardage situations. With Gordon, Williams, and Lindsay the overload of talent in the backfield would be a great problem to have in 2021.

Denver will be presented with a lot of options and soften the blow depending on if they lose Lindsay or Gordon next year.
