Denver Broncos 2021 prospect: Travis Etienne, RB Clemson

This is one of my favorite top-end prospects at running back in the 2021 NFL Draft. Travis Etienne was one of the players who could have declared last season but decided to return to school.

Etienne has a certain gear when he hits the second level there’s a burst that can make him a home-run hitter. Even with his subtle elusiveness, there is a decent level of physicality he brings as a back. If everything goes according to his skill set, then he has making to be a dynamic weapon in the NFL.

Harris grew as a pass-catcher in Alabama, but so did Etienne. Etienne’s growth as a receiver has become one of his better traits. It is one of the best traits that helps emphasize his burst to get him to the second level. It also creates his best trait as a player in my opinion.

Etienne is one of the best backs at creating positive yards and not an ounce of negative plays. A back that can find positive yards in opportunities that are otherwise lost yardage is a special player.

Among Etienne, Gordon, and Lindsay, there would be an opportunity to be one of the most dynamic backfields in the NFL. Etienne’s potential is so explosive and he can be a three-down back in most systems.

One area Etienne strongly needs work on is pass protection. This is a reason why Royce Freeman sees certain plays at times. Freeman is a great pass protector. Etienne needs to show a strong structure or base to not get pushed around in pass protection.

All of that said, coaches put some of the best players in a position to succeed. Since Etienne is a special weapon in an offense, he very well might transcend Denver’s team on all levels.

Between Gordon and Etienne it could be a special combination. Add in Lindsay’s home run hitter capability it would make the backfield darn near complete.
