The Senior Bowl has increased importance as there will be no NFL Scouting Combine for the first time since 1982. Scouting the American Roster and National Roster will be very important for Denver Broncos General Manager George Paton and his staff.

Without being able to bring players in, there is much more importance to player pro-days and all-star games, such as the Senior Bowl.

College Football Bowl season saw several players up their draft stock, now comes the all-star game cycle.

Success in hitting on players eligible in the 2021 draft hinges on each scouting department’s ability to assess the Senior Bowl National roster. I took a look at several players the Denver Broncos should pay attention to during the week of practices leading up to the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

I took a look at both the American Roster and National Roster to shine some light on potential targets for the Denver Broncos in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. In this article, I dive into the National Roster, but make sure to check out my article highlighting Denver Broncos fits on the American Roster.

Denver Broncos Senior Bowl fits: Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina

As a part of the Tar Heels dynamic one-two punch with Javonte Williams, Michael Carter was still able to shine as they tore up the ACC on the ground. Although Williams gets more notoriety, Carter is a good player with next-level attributes.

At 5-foot-8 and 199 pounds, the senior running back shows a dynamic skill set, which led to his four-star prospect status coming out of high school.

Carter’s talent provides whatever NFL team he goes with a legitimate home-run threat. Carter accumulated 1,003 yards and three touchdowns on 177 carries while also picking up two receiving touchdowns in 2019. In 2020, Carter showed similar production, which was on full display against Miami as he amassing 308 yards and two scores on 24 touches.

Carter has as smooth running style and should show enough speed to entice NFL GMs

Look for Carter to show his versatility against linebackers and safeties on the National Roster during Senior Bowl week.
