Broncos positions to avoid atop 2021 Draft: Interior offensive line

Another position group the Denver Broncos (thankfully) won’t have to worry about in the 2021 offseason is the interior offensive line.

Keep this in mind also: Interior offensive line is not typically an area of the roster you address in the first round unless players are extremely good at their craft already and your roster is well-set in almost every other area.

The positional value of interior offensive linemen in the first round of the NFL Draft is just generally not there.

With that in mind, the Denver Broncos have four interior linemen under contract and only three spots to play them.

This is a great problem to have as injuries are certainly not uncommon in the NFL today.

Left guard Dalton Risner, center Lloyd Cushenberry, and right guard Graham Glasgow should all take a collective step forward in 2021, and we saw tremendous improvement from the youngsters Risner and Cushenberry as the season progressed.

The interior offensive line class in the 2021 NFL Draft doesn’t have any Quenton Nelson types, unless you project Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater as a pure guard in the NFL (he can play tackle at a high level, in my opinion).

In addition to the three starters on the interior line, the Broncos got a glimpse at rookie Netane Muti in 2020, and he was really impressive in limited action.

Having those four players under contract makes interior offensive line a position the Broncos will certainly avoid in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
