Denver Broncos positions to avoid with top 2021 pick: Wide receiver

Is there a collection of young receivers under contract for 2021 in the entire NFL that you would reasonably argue taking over the Denver Broncos’ group?

The Broncos’ 2021 wide receiver group, assuming they make the right decision and extend a restricted free agent tender to Tim Patrick, should look like this:

  • Courtland Sutton
  • Jerry Jeudy
  • Tim Patrick
  • KJ Hamler
  • DaeSean Hamilton
  • Tyrie Cleveland

Not only do the Broncos have the chance to return everyone from last year’s group, but they will be getting Courtland Sutton back from injury which is like the team adding a Pro Bowl player at no additional cost.

Considering Denver spent a first-round pick on Jeudy and second-round picks (high ones, at that) on Sutton and Hamler from 2018-20, it’s hard to justify the thought of being greedy enough to take a wide receiver in round one of the 2021 NFL Draft.

If this group is healthy in 2021, it will be fascinating to see how much each player can improve with another year of NFL ball under their belts. This might be the best collection of talent the Denver Broncos have ever assembled at the wide receiver position.

Even with a stellar class of players, the Denver Broncos would be better off waiting until the later rounds of the 2021 draft to find a gem at receiver rather than force the issue and forsake other areas of need.
