Denver Broncos: 10 defensive prospects to consider in 2021 NFL Draft
Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami
Like Micah Parsons, Gregory Rousseau opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. Also, Rousseau is the final edge rusher we focus on in our slideshow. Rousseau has a built frame who shows an ability to contribute on the inside if he adds even more weight.
He has a tremendous amount of production while with Miami as a redshirt sophomore. Rousseau is in some ways a project that will take some to develop.
Rousseau has recently started playing on the defensive line, but the amount of production he has to offer begs the question of what could he have done in 2020. He has a tremendous explosion bringing a physical presence to his pass rush skill set. The length and built frame jump off the page for Rousseau but the array of moves is still unrefined.
Coming to a Denver Broncos team might be a great thing for his development. Von Miller may remain with Denver his entire career, but if thinking about life after Miller, Rousseau would be a great piece to add to pass rush depth.
If Rousseau or Ojulari do come to Denver, then you are talking adding them to depth or Miller, Bradley Chubb, Malik Reed, and Jeremiah Attaochu. This allows the right growth for Rousseau, Ojulari, Paye or another edge rusher prospect to be groomed for a larger role past 2022.
Life after Von Miller is always a tough thing to forecast. With a new regime coming in for the front office we do not know exactly the identity of where they go. However, prospects are still on the table with Miller past 2022. Therefore addressing the pass rush makes a lot of sense.
