Denver Broncos defensive prospects: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

Much like Caleb Farley, there are dynamic playmakers at the top of the 2021 NFL Draft who could provide a huge impact on two different levels of defense. Micah Parsons is one of those players.

Parsons was a ferocious pass rusher coming out of High School and he has not lost that explosiveness at all. Few people show the athleticism he has on all levels. This type of athleticism brings versatility to a defense. Parsons can provide that same energy to the inside linebacker position also.

Denver does have an athletic linebacker in Justin Strnad but he sustained an injury in camp that derailed a potential opportunity for him to see the field in 2020. Factoring in his selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, Parsons would be a first-round selection and provide an instant impact to a Denver Broncos defense.

Parsons is so athletic he could be used as a tool all over the Vic Fangio defense. Fangio could design roles for Parsons as a rusher or blitzer in defense. One of his home run downs is third. This is the ideal spot for Fangio to use in any such way.

Another such part of Parsons game is his freak instincts. The highly instinctive Parsons is starting to grasp opportunities in both the run and pass game creating opportunities for turnovers. Players with a true knack for forcing turnovers is something that can translate to the next level.

Denver was one of the worst at winning the turnover battle in games. They ranked right near the bottom of that category. Adding his freak athleticism and instincts, Parsons would be one of those players who could transform the Denver defense.

Parsons has recently been knocked for immaturity issues here in January. We will not officially of this until NFL Combine during player interviews. What we could speculate early is if this is enough to have Parsons be there at pick number nine.
