Denver Broncos 2021 roster prediction: Defense

The Broncos’ defense will see some changes by adding youth to the secondary and defensive line. The Broncos have some huge decisions to make with Justin Simmons and Shelby Harris, and a potential restructure of Von Miller.

The new General Manager will have their hands full reshaping the defense, but in this prediction, the Broncos commit to youth and talent over proven production.

Defensive Line

The Broncos manage to bring back Shelby Harris after an excellent 2020 season, as well as showing faith in Jurrell Casey by bringing him back for another season. Mike Purcell continues his duties as the team’s primary run-stuffer and will continue to grow in Vic Fangio’s defense.

Dre’Mont Jones gets a new running-mate on the 2nd string unit in Christian Barmore, a talented pass rusher out of Alabama. The two will combine to form a lethal pass rush combined with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb on third down, and will wreck opposing passing games.

The Broncos allow McTelvin Agim to grow as a disruptive pass rusher in his 2nd year, along with rookie Tommy Togiai from Ohio State. The two will spell the 1st and 2nd string lineman and are capable of playing many roles along the defensive line.

Edge Rusher

With Von Miller back in the lineup, the dynamic duo of Chubb and Miller will destroy opposing offenses and will help the Broncos’ defense tremendously. The Broncos’ duo should be in for a huge year.

Behind Chubb and Miller, the Broncos move on from Jeremiah Attouchu and show faith in second-year player Derrek Tuszka. Malik Reed has proven to be another undrafted star for the Broncos and will serve as a high-end backup to spell the starters.

Rookie Malcolm Koonce is a newcomer to the group and will develop on the practice squad. With the veteran leadership of Miller and Chubb, along with a player who has developed like Malik Reed, Koonce has every available opportunity to develop into another late-round gem for the Broncos.
