The Denver Broncos will have backup QB competition in 2021.

This is obviously going to be between Jeff Driskel and Brett Rypien.

As well as a free agent pickup.

The expectation is that Drew Lock is going to continue to get another chance to be the 2021 starting quarterback of the Broncos. However, it won’t just be handed to him.

Lock has shown some talent at times but also regression at other times. At some point, the team is likely going to bring in someone via free agency to compete with the former second-round pick.

The guys the team currently has in Driskel and Rypien aren’t in that category. They are no threat to unseating Lock at the quarterback position.

I would assume the team will go into the 2021 season with two quarterbacks—maybe three. With that math not adding up to the current roster, one of these guys is going to be the odd-man-out.
