Broncos should look at Myles Jack in 2021 offseason
By Tylor Walden
With the Broncos looking to improve at inside linebacker, could the team kick the tires on Myles Jack if he is available?
With the 2020 season for the Denver Broncos in the books, the team will need to look long and hard on what positions to fill when the offseason begins. One of those positions that the team could look into is inside linebacker. An option that could be something to keep an eye on is Myles Jack.
The Broncos parted ways with Todd Davis before the season began. As of now, the team’s starting linebackers are Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell. Denver has yet to decide on Johnson’s future since he will be a restricted free agent this season and Jewell has been solid, but there are questions about him as a whole.
If there was a way that the Broncos could improve defensively in 2021, Myles Jack could be the answer. What could determine his availability is his contract situation. As it stands right now, he currently has an opt out in his contract for this year. It would cost the Jaguars a little over $14 million dollars to opt out, which would be quite the dead cap to absorb.
He spent 2019 on injured reserve and was quite good in 2020. If there was a chance that the Jaguars release him, there is no doubt in my mind the Broncos should try to sign him.
He could really help the team when it comes to tackling, which Denver has struggled with a lot in the past couple of seasons. Do not get me wrong, there are some solid tacklers on the team. But having the chance to add the kind of production Jack could provide to your team would be amazing.
There will be a lot of hurdles to jump for the Broncos to make this kind of deal happen, including the money to have the opt out and then to sign him. But any way to make the team better, I would take it in a heartbeat.
Let us make Myles Jack to Denver happen, if we can!
