Shelby Harris with a game-winning knockdown

Why not end this season the same way last season ended?

In the season finale last year, Harris swatted down Derek Carr’s pass on a game-winning two-point conversion attempt to seal the win for the Broncos. If he doesn’t make that play, the Raiders likely complete the pass and win the game.

Of course, that  game was as meaningless as this one is but it was still a big play for Harris and now, he has established himself as one of the best defenders in the entire league at knocking down passes at the line of scrimmage.

This season alone, he has been credited with seven knockdowns.

Harris has had a good year as well. He has 32 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.  He  has become an integral part of the defense and one that the Broncos should keep around for the future.

Harris will be an unrestricted free agent following the season and he should be much likelier to secure the big deal he was looking for following last season. The Broncos should be the team to give him that deal.

It would be the icing on the cake to  a bad season if Harris wins the game in the waning moments by knocking down another of Carr’s game-winning attempts. Something like that could also help  convince the front office not to let Harris find a new team in  2021.
