Key Matchups and X-Factors

Predominantly Orange’s Nicholas Manning previews his key matchups in Week 16 between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. Check it out here.

X-Factors

Chris Harris Jr.

Although Chris Harris Jr. has missed much of the season due to injury, this game has the feel of a “revenge game” for the former Bronco great. Although the Broncos and Chargers have already met this season, this will be the first time that Chris Harris Jr. will be suited up against his old team.

He recorded his first interception of the season in the Chargers’ Thursday Night Football win over the Raiders, and there is no doubt he will be looking to get involved in the passing attack on his former team who opted to let him walk away.

With the struggles the Broncos’ offense has faced this season, it is not an unreasonable thought that Harris could take big strides to get his career with the Chargers kickstarted in this game.

Melvin Gordon

Staying true to the revenge game theme, Melvin Gordon has a similar opportunity as he faces his former team for the second time this season. In the first contest, Gordon rushed for just 26 yards on eight carries.

With Lindsay being placed onto IR, Gordon will be the feature back, and should have more opportunity to run the rock, especially if the Broncos’ pass attack faces an unfavorable matchup with the Chargers’ stout secondary.

Gordon may not have gotten his revenge game last time, but this game has all the makeup for him to get it the second time around.
