Justin Herbert Poised To Make History on Sunday
As Broncos Country knows, another divisional rival found their young franchise QB for years to come when the Chargers drafted Justin Herbert, who, despite the shortcomings of his team, has posted a phenomenal rookie season, undoubtedly filling Broncos fans with some envy.
In tomorrow’s game, rookie Justin Herbert has the opportunity to make history. He needs just one touchdown pass to surpass Baker Mayfield for most TD’s thrown as a rookie. Both Mayfield and Herbert are currently at 27 TD passes as a rookie, and it is all but assured that not only will Herbert throw his 28th and take the record before the end of the season, but is likely that he will accomplish this feat against the Broncos.
Phillip Lindsay Placed on IR, Ending His Disappointing 2020 Campaign
Disappointing news surfaced early Saturday morning with the news that Phillip Lindsay was being placed on injured reserve, ending his 2020 season that was no doubt full of frustration and heartbreak for the young Colorado native.
After rushing for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons, and being the first undrafted free agent to do so, he finished 2020 with only 502 rush yards, averaging only about 31 yards a game.
While Lindsay battled with injury once again in 2020, it was unexpected by almost everyone to see Lindsay outperformed by Melvin Gordon, who was brought in to serve as a 1-2 punch with Lindsay.
Although much of Lindsay’s struggles were attributed to offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur restricting his carries and grossly underutilizing him, fans can’t help but wonder if Lindsay has played his last snap with the Denver Broncos.
Let’s hope not.
