The Denver Broncos must completely make over the cornerback position in 2021.

Cornerback was clearly the team’s biggest worry heading into the season after the front office decided to place a huge focus on adding to the depth at wide receiver. John Elway hoped to mask the loss of Chris Harris in free agency  by trading for A.J. Bouye. That  hasn’t worked.

Michael Ojemudia has had his ups and downs as a rookie. Bryce Callahan was solid before being placed on injured reserve. But the team just doesn’t have enough at the cornerback spot.

Heading into Week 16 against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Broncos have a couple of guys by the names of Nate Hairston and Parnell Motley to help out Ojemudia and De’Vante Bausby. That could be an issue when trying to slow down Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ high-powered passing attack.

The Broncos have not been as bad against the pass this season as one may think, but they could also be much better in the future and hopefully, someday, bring back a new version of the ‘No Fly Zone’.

John Elway and his staff must be aggressive in looking to improve the cornerback position following this season. There are several big names available on the free-agent market, as well as some under-the-radar guys that could be had at a good price.

The Broncos should strongly consider using a first-round pick on a cornerback and adding a big name through free agency while giving serious consideration to allowing Bouye to walk.

In addition to these potential first-round picks, the Broncos should also consider one of these familiar names as a free agent.
