Phillip Lindsay

Trust me, I hate including the name of Phillip Lindsay here. It’s really by no fault of his own that he is here, but when you consider that he has had back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, and won’t sniff that number this year, he’s gone backwards.

Lindsay just hasn’t gotten as many opportunities this season following the signing of Melvin Gordon, who the Broncos clearly see as their No.1 running back.

Lindsay missed time early in the season with injury and has only been given 10 or more carries in four games this season. He’s also only rushed for 100 yards one time.

Still, when given those chances, he seems to be the more dynamic back than Gordon. He doesn’t have the same name value and isn’t a former first-round pick like Gordon, but he runs harder and seems to find the hole better than his counterpart.

Lindsay was undrafted out of college and there will always be questions regarding his size and how much of a pounding he can take as an every-down back. But it certainly feels like the Broncos need to keep him in the mix and give him a few more opportunities.

If not, it will be another team that ends up getting the best of this young man’s abilities.
