Von Miller inching closer to potential 2020 debut
Von Miller is inching closer to his potential 2020 debut.
Before the season began, Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller suffered a severe ankle injury that was considered likely to end any chance of him making an appearance on the field in 2020. However, that may not be the outcome when it’s all said and done.
Broncos coach Vic Fangio announced to the media on Monday that Miller began running last week.
Miller suffered the injury in September, roughly three months ago. He initially had hoped to return by December 13th (which was Sunday against the Panthers). The Broncos have three games remaining on their schedule: vs the Bills, at Chargers, vs the Raiders.
It does not appear that Miller will return to game action this upcoming week against Buffalo, as Fangio said. However, it could be a lot of fun seeing him get some game action in either against the Chargers or in their season finale against Las Vegas.
Miller returning to game action would obviously be a great thing to see. In a season that has been destroyed by injuries, getting an all-pro in Miller back would be huge. While it won’t change the outcome of the season, it’s always good to get a spark even when it’s too late.
I am also sure that getting higher on the all-time sack list is in the back of Miller’s mind. He is not getting any younger so any sacks he can get this season would help him.
In Miller’s place, Malik Reed has been a very nice surprise. Reed has 6.5 sacks on the season for the Broncos, but obviously isn’t on the level that Miller is.
While it may not make a lot of sense rushing Miller back this season with the season close to being done, the star is going to try to convince the coaches to let him out on the field to help his teammates close out the 2020 season on a strong note.
