The Denver Broncos bring home a familiar face to bolster their secondary.

There was much uncertainty in the 2019 off-season whether safety Will Parks would return to Denver as a free agent. Parks decided to go home to Philadelphia on a short-term contract. On Tuesday, the Eagles released Parks and thus started a collective “Come Home Will Parks” campaign by Broncos Country.

It worked, apparently, and the Denver Broncos have a huge piece of 2019 secondary back in the mix.

Parks rejoins a Broncos team that will use him in a variety of roles. His skill set helped in both pass coverage and in the running game. Parks will be yet another enforcer on the Broncos defense who brings an attitude alongside Kareem Jackson.

The “new” Broncos safety also will make his presence felt on special teams. During his time in Denver, Parks molded himself into a very good all-around player in nearly every phase. He became a better coverage safety and great tackler committed to stuffing the run. These are the types of areas that need to address to be a complete unit. Parks having that special teams edge could put Denver into a better position with his presence there.

Circling back to Parks coverage, it helps Denver’s inability to cover the tight end. Parks will be used in every way possible to be successful here. In some ways, this move made more sense as it is broken down. With it being a COVID year, the Broncos bring familiarity and comfortability. This means Parks has a previous relationship with Vic Fangio and all the Broncos defense.

He is going into a perfect situation for the rest of the season. Also circling back to overall performance with Denver, a lot of the credit goes to Fangio for raising his level of play and putting Parks in the best situations to succeed. It was a questionable decision that Denver did not bring back Parks since he became an underrated member of that defense.

Also, there’s an emotional tie with the reunion of Parks. Both Parks and Justin Simmons entered the NFL at the same time. They grew up together through growing pains and established an inseparable bond. Simmons and Parks became brothers and close friends through this process. Both of them helped raise the play of one another when they were together.

Simmons will be pleased to know his best friend is back in the fold. Broncos Country certainly shares that sentiment as well.

Welcome back to Denver Will Parks.
