Denver Broncos should be angry with NFL over QB situation

The morning after the team’s loss to the Saints, the Denver Broncos had no more positive tests this morning.

So, NFL, what do you have to say for yourselves? Oh, would you look at that: there were no new positive COVID tests for the Denver Broncos the morning after they had to keep all of their quarterbacks out due to COVID-19 protocols.

The league put a young 23-year old wide receiver in a bad position. They put the entire team in a bad situation.

While every one of these quarterbacks minus Jeff Driskel (who was placed on the COVID-19 list) have consistently tested negative for the virus, the league still forced every single one of them to sit out of yesterday’s game.

The league and its teams have the ability to test players on a daily basis. So you’re telling me that every quarterback on the roster is asymptomatic and that’s the precaution? What are the chances of that?

There is absolutely no excuse for what the league did to the Broncos.

It’s also fair to question why the NFL did not postpone this game so that it would be more fair.

You can argue that having an actual starting quarterback play against the Saints would not have mattered. It may not have changed the final outcome of the game. However, you still have to take into account that this took away an opportunity for Drew Lock to face a great defense in the Saints.

That’s ultimately what I’m frustrated about.

Heck, not only did they take away an opportunity for Lock; they took away opportunities for the other offensive players to get a quality experience. Specifically, the wide receivers. Do you know how many catches came in this game? One.

That reception was by Noah Fant, for 13 yards.

This just was not a situation that any team can prepare to be successful. With limited practice time, Kendall Hinton, a practice squad receiver, did all he could in less than a day’s worth of practicing at quarterback.

I am also a little bit concerned regarding the health of the team’s running backs now. Phillip Lindsay got banged up during the game with a knee injury. We don’t know the severity of the injury right now but can you imagine if it’s bad? Running backs don’t typically last long and having to play that extended amount of time could really hurt these guys.
