The Denver Broncos have their starting tackle, Garett Bolles, for the next four years.

It’s amazing what experience can do to a player. Specifically Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles.

After several years of struggling as the team’s starting left tackle, Bolles has earned his way to a new four-year extension worth $69.969 million over that span. Bolles will make $1.969 million this year prior to that new money kicking in.

If you have been paying attention, Bolles has been playing extremely well this year. He has been a top tackle across the league this year, allowing just a grand total of zero sacks in 2020 in 684 snaps played.

The move to extend Bolles also gives the Broncos more options in free agency and the 2021 NFL draft. Prior to this extension, Bolles was about to hit the free-agent market after the Broncos declined his fifth-year option.

Instead, he has shocked the world with how well he has been playing for Hall of Fame former offensive lineman Mike Munchak, and former Broncos offensive lineman Chris Kuper.

Bolles was the team’s first-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Utah.

He has committed 51 penalties throughout his time with the Broncos but has vastly improved his play this year. It will be quite interesting to see how well he performs now that he will be with the team for the foreseeable future.

Left tackle is a crucial position on an offense and had Bolles left the team in free agency following the 2020 season, the Broncos would have been in some big  trouble. Having continuity at certain positions is very important and left tackle is one of them.

While some people took his age as a red flag in the 2017 draft, the Broncos weren’t bothered enough by it to go a different direction. Now, with his new extension, Bolles will be a member of the Broncos until he is on the other side of 30-years old.

Congratulations, Garett. You’ve definitely earned this.
