5. Taysom Hill

The do-it-all weapon for the Saints has found a new role with Drew Brees on the sideline. As the starting quarterback, Taysom Hill played an efficient game against the Atlanta Falcons, finishing 18-23 for 233 yards, per ESPN.

Hill did plenty of damage on the ground as well, adding 51 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Saints to victory.

Taysom Hill isn’t Drew Brees, and the Broncos know that. The Saints will likely feature a run-heavy approach with Hill at quarterback, using short passes to let their playmakers work after the catch.

The combination of Hill and Alvin Kamara is certainly a threat for the Broncos, and slowing down the run game has to be priority number one. While finishing the day with great numbers, the Broncos need to force Taysom Hill to beat them with his arm, not his legs.

By taking away Kamara and Michael Thomas in the passing game, the Broncos will force Hill to read NFL defenses and work through his progressions. We haven’t truly seen if Hill is capable of beating a defense with his eyes and arm, and Sunday will be telling of Taysom Hill’s future as a starting quarterback.

If the Broncos can contain Taysom Hill’s explosiveness on the run, and force him to be a pocket passer, Denver will have a shot to upset the Saints on Sunday and put themselves back in the playoff hunt.
