2. Cam Jordan
While Trey Hendrickson leads the team in sacks, Cam Jordan is undoubtedly the more experienced and well-rounded pass rusher for the Saints.
Jordan typically lines up along the left side of the defensive line, which means he will be facing Demar Dotson on Sunday. Jordan and Dotson are well acquainted, as Dotson spent his entire career in Tampa Bay before signing with the Broncos this offseason.
Dotson may be well acquainted with Jordan and his style, but Cam Jordan still has the ability to wreck the Denver Broncos’ plans of stealing a win. Jordan has a wide variety of pass-rush moves, and will certainly win his handful of reps against Dotson on passing plays.
Jordan is also an excellent run defender as well, finishing 2nd on the team in tackles for loss with nine. The Broncos will need to account for Jordan in the run game, as well as in the passing game.
So how can the Broncos limit Jordan’s impact? Pat Shurmur did a great job at being creative with his play-calling last week, and giving quarterback Drew Lock easy and quick throws.
If the Broncos want to hold Cam Jordan in check, they need to emphasize getting the ball out quickly. When throwing deep, allowing Lock feel comfortable inside the pocket by keeping an extra blocker or two in to help protect should be a priority.
By using quick passes to let his receivers work after the catch, Lock will not only limit the number of hits he takes but will also keep Cam Jordan from destroying Shurmur’s game plan.
