Shaun Wade, Ohio State

After Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette left Ohio State for the NFL this past year, Shaun Wade was going to have to prove himself on the outside this season. That move hasn’t produced great results, but Wade can be an absolutely dominant slot corner and that has plenty of value in the NFL.

Because he has struggled on the outside, there are many teams that won’t have a first-round grade on Wade. But for a crafty defensive coordinator willing to run a lot of nickel, Wade is a total stud. As a slot corner, there is really nothing his college tape doesn’t show.

He has tremendous size and length (see a trend developing here?), good ball skills and the ability to stay with receivers stride for stride. He also possesses good instincts and a high football IQ.

The Broncos have Callahan under contract through the 2021 season and many see him as one of the league’s best slot corners, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a player with the ability of Wade waiting in the wings.

Though it would appear that Wade’s strength would be to play inside as a slot corner, he has the ability to make plays on the outside as well and perhaps with the right coaching, he would adjust and become just as strong on that side of the field.

Check out this pick six (video) he made this past Saturday against Indiana in a clash of top 10 teams.
