Patrick Surtain II, Alabama

The son of a former NFL cornerback, Patrick Surtain out of Alabama is probably the most intriguing cornerback in the upcoming draft class. He has prototypical size at 6-foot-2 and a shade over 200 pounds.

His size is what teams look for in a solid modern day NFL cornerback and it also gives him the kind of length that makes it tough to complete passes against him. Throw in the fact that he has great ball skills and this guy is going to go high in the draft.

Why not to Denver?

The Broncos have a glaring need at the position and a guy like Surtain could come in and be a great weapon to use against a team like the Kansas City Chiefs, where he has the ability to line up against Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce.

A versatile chess piece such as that is one that defensive coordinators salivate over. Think back to when the New England Patriots used to go to Talib to shut down the opposition’s top tight end.

Surtain also has great bloodlines. His father, Patrick, was a second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins back in 1998. He was selected to three Pro Bowls and finished his career with 37 interceptions.

Surtain is coming out of one of the top college programs in the country, one that has produced many first-round cornerbacks. He was able to see the field as a freshman, which is a true accomplishment at  Alabama.

Those close to that school will tell you that Surtain might be the best prospect the school has had at the cornerback position in decades.
