Salvon Ahmed

Although starting back Matt Breida is anticipated to return this week from a hamstring injury, one can’t help but expect that second-string running back Salvon Ahmed may get the majority of the carries.

Miami’s offense has struggled in spots throughout the season, but mostly, in the run game. Last week’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers changed that.

Rushing for 85 yards in the game, Ahmed more than held the ship afloat in the presence of Breida, which realistically, should have earned him a bigger role in Miami’s offense going forward.

With Breida returning to the lineup, it is likely that Ahmed’s snap count will decrease from the Chargers game, it is likely that the Dolphins could use Breida and Ahmed as a one-two punch. It is likely that the Dolphins will work to exploit the run defense of the Broncos, and likely see this matchup as a good opportunity to replicate the run game’s success from the prior week.

Considering that the Broncos gave up 203 rush yards to the Raiders last week, this should not be a surprise to many.

While it is likely that Vic Fangio has a gameplan to slow down Breida’s success, hopefully he has got a solution for the young and talented Ahmed, who, if the Broncos aren’t careful, could really gash this already struggling rush attack.
