The offense is still awful

The Broncos have not had a productive offense since Peyton Manning was around setting records. This year was supposed to be different with all of the pieces the team brought in to help Drew Lock.

A team coached by Vic Fangio is likely not going to be an offensive juggernaut, but it needs to be more consistent than this. In year’s past, the Broncos have been a team with a solid defense that can’t score enough points when it has the ball.

The Broncos have scored 16 points or less in five of their nine games this year and that is just not going to get it done. The defense still has a chance to be in the top half of the league but if the offense can’t put points on the board, the defense will eventually crack.

Sure, we can put some of the blame on injuries to players like Courtland Sutton and to an extent, K.J. Hamler. But Lock should be able to produce more with guys like Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant to get the ball to.

The running game has been soft and one has to continually wonder why the team seemingly put Phillip Lindsay on the back burner in favor of Melvin Gordon, who has been average at absolute best.

The offense has to score more points. The team is not talented enough to win games by a score of 13-10 every week. Whether it’s a lack of growth in Lock, the play calls being made by Pat Shurmur, all of the injuries the team has had to deal with or a combination of things, this offense is just simply not very good.
