Denver Broncos defensive lineman Shelby Harris won’t be available this Sunday as he tested positive for COVID-19.

The hits keep coming for the Denver Broncos. This time, defensive lineman Shelby Harris has been hit by the COVID-19 virus. Harris will not be available this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Harri was previously considered a close contact.

That’s a major blow to a Broncos defensive line unit that has 119.5 rushing yards per game this season. The Broncos previously lost trade acquisition Jurrell Casey earlier in the year to a season-ending biceps injury. They also lost Mike Purcell to a season-ending foot injury.

Harris has been a solid player for the Broncos since joining the team in 2017. He has 145 tackles, 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, 19 pass deflections in that span. He is also a great special teams player. He has a unique gift of being able to bat down passes and blocking field goal attempts.

It will be a tough test for the Broncos this week especially with Harris out as the team will have to go up against an offense of the Raiders that can make some pretty dynamic plays. Not only do they have a solid running back in Josh Jacobs but can burn you downfield with speedy rookie receiver Henry Ruggs.

With Harris out, the Broncos will have guys such as Dre’Mont Jones, Sylvester Williams, DeMarcus Walker, McTelvin Agim, and DeShawn Williams on the defensive line. Williams has 20 tackles, half a sack, and an interception (against the New England Patriots) this season with the Broncos.

The Broncos are going to have to do their best with the guys they have on the defensive line to get pressure on quarterback Derek Carr. Denver brought back cornerback DeVante Bausby on Tuesday after he was waived by the Arizona Cardinals. They realized that letting him go was a mistake they couldn’t afford.

Pressure in the backfield will become very crucial in this game. The Broncos aren’t quite healthy in the defensive secondary, so they may have to rely on the big guys up front.
